| It's time to say goodbye... I've had a hectic year and can find almost no time anymore to work on bZone. I still had lots of ideas but am just to busy with other things. I've had lots of fun creating bZone but now it's time to move on. So, there probably won't be any new features anymore, but I'll give you bZone 1.00 without expiration date so you can keep on using it as it is. Thanks for all the positive feedback and have fun with it! |
| Well, it's been busy lately. I am working on another, music related, project and have been spending too much time with my xbox. But I'll be working on bZone again soon. But here is another, probably the last update of version 0.99. Nothing changed, just increased the expiration date. |
| If you can read this, the migration to a new server has succeeded. Everything is back to normal. |
| One of the upcoming days, the bZone website will be moved to a new server. There might be some downtime but probably not much. For the rest, everything will be the same except for one thing: the mailing lists will cease to exist. Sorry bout that. |
| I'm still working on the SMDI stuff, including saving and loading Ax000 files on PC, but in the meantime, here's a version that should keep you going. |
| Lots of bugfixes. Here is a list. |
| This one took me some time, but here it is. This new version has some new graphs, for filter and levelscaling. And SetToDefault, Copy, Paste, Export and Import now fully work for programs, easyedits, effect, samples and banks. The export feature lets you save (a number of) parameters to a file on your pc, a bZone Template. You can then import this template to another object. You could for instance save an effect to a file and reuse it later in another program. You could even start distributing your favorite effects over the internet now. I have tested all new features extensively on the A5000 (A4000 is almost the same), but had no time to do so on the A3000, so there might be some bugs there. Let me know if you find one. I'll try to find some time to write some documentation about the export/import feature. |
| Best wishes to you all! I hope in 2004 you'll and find (more) inspiration (and time -;) to make some great music. Maybe bZone can be a little help in that. Here's a new version of bZone, it's an update of version 0.98. It has a new effects page, with description of the effects and its parameters. Also, you can now copy and paste programs and effects. Within a couple of weeks there'll will be another version, 0.99, with the export feature. |
| New release to increase the expiration data. New features are being worked on and will go into beta test soon. |
| There were a number of bugs with editing sample parameters. I've tested every single bank parameter so all of them should be fixed now. Also, I've fixed the broken Copy and Paste for pages. |
| Damn, 0.98u1 contains another bug: the Copy and Paste operations don't work for pages (Set To Default does though). Also, everything works for sections and parameters. I'll fix the Copy/Paste for pages in the next update. |
| The first update to 0.98. Seems there was a bug: bZone crashed when selecting the Out page of a bank. That's fixed now. |
| New version! Most important new feature is a copy/paste and 'set to default' feature, currently for samples only, but other objects will follow soon. To use these features, right click a sample page, section or parameter. Besides that there are some minor fixes. Soon there will be templates. Basically this means you will be able to save (a number of) a samples parameter to a file (a 'template'), locally, on your PC that is, which you can load later. Typical useage could be to save your favorite effects or filter settings to a file. When you want to reuse these parameters later, in another program or sample, simply load the template. |
| Another update which justs increases the expiration date. I have been working on some new stuff as you know, but it's not ready for release yet. Also, I've been busy with some other stuff so no new features in this release. Soon! |
| Today, I transferred wav files between PC and Ax000 succesfully for the first time with bZone, using openSMDI. There's still quite some work to do, but it looks like bZone will offer SMDI in the not so distant future. Backup possibilities where you can save all your data on your PC harddisk instead of a harddisk inside the Ax000 or a ZIP are the next logical step after that. |
| Last weeks, a few problems (bugs?) were reported that I could not reproduce. This version includes a new logging system, which produces more output, what should help me track down those problems. I'll contact those who reported a problem and let you know what I need you to do. Apart from that, a few new features that were requested have been implemented. Here's a list. |
The recently released version 0.97 contained an annoying bug: bank parameters could not be edited. Thanks to Dan Knight for pointing this out to me. I believe this bug was important enough to do an immediate bugfix, so you can now download version 0.97u1 (where u stands for 'update'). Some other bugs have been reported. I'm looking into those and that might result in another update. |
| Finally, the bZ1x keyboard is working. It should help greatly in testing: you can now play samples from within bZone. More features, like the graphical keymapper which works closely with the keyboard, are to come soon. A list of new features is here. |
| Beta testing of bZone 0.97 started today. The most important new feature is the bZ1x keyboard which is now working and can be used for easy editing or testing. This new version will get released for Jan 01, 2003. Stay tuned. |
| No new features in this release, just increased the expiration date. It's been very quiet on the bZone front last few months, but this version should keep you going while I try to get back on track with the new features. |
| No new features in this release, just increased the expiration date. Since some of you seem to be wondering: yes, I am still working on bZone although it's been quiet lately. So, the keyboard, the auditioner, the graphical keymapper, I'm working on all of that. Stay tuned for the next version. |
The most important new feature is the filtergraphs (with draggable nodes). Furthermore, I rewrote the switch remote routines which should make sample renaming more reliable and in most occasions, faster. There might be good news for people with a MIDI interface that doesn't work with bZone! This new version uses one big sysex buffer of 64K, which might solve the problems noted with some MIDI interfaces before (the UX96 has already been reported to work with this version). Try it out! Thanks to Ryan Gallagher to help me work this out. More details about the changes can be found here and you can download this new version here |
| I released version 0.93 of bZone yesterday. However, there was a problem when using this version on an A3000: when accessing the program-LFO page, bZone crashed. I have now fixed this problem and uploaded a new version (I did not increase the version number). So, if you have this problem, re-download bZone0.93 and all should be fine. There's no need to re-download if you have an A4000 or A5000. |
| Version 0.93 released. More info on the new features is one the whatsnew page and you can download it from the download page. |
| The links section on the right of this page has been updated with the new link for Disky. OpenSMDI is removed since there isn't one specific openSMDI site, but if you need it, do a search at google. It's available at a lot of download sites. |
| As promised, I have uploaded some new screenshots of the upcoming release. As you can see, there are now graphs for AEG, FEG, PEG, LFO and StepWave. For the broadband surfers, there's also screenmovie about the sample-LFO graph [880kB] |
| The previous version expired on Nov 01, so I had to provide an update. The new features I'm adding aren't completely done yet, so this is just a expiration date increase update. HOWEVER, I cannot provide an update to the A3000 0.57 version. By some stupid mistake, I lost the code for 0.57. That means that 0.57 users should upgrade to 0.92 too. Thereby they will loose some features. I am really sorry about that. I'm working hard to get those features added to 0.92. Stay tuned. |
| Version 0.57 is for A3000 only. It's the same as 0.56 but with an increased expiration date. This upon request of the German Keyboards magazine who will write a short article on bZone in their next issue. They wanted a version with an increased expiration date to put on the CD that goes with the magazine. |
| I have setup a mailinglist specifically for bZone. It's about bZone! Not about the Yamaha samplers or music in general. All info can be found here |
| Last few days, teklab was unreachable. Teklab is the host for the a-list, groundhum and, until today, also the bZone website and therefore, the bZone site was unreachable too. Today, I moved the bZone website to a hosting provider here in Belgium, which (hopefully) gives me a bit more control over the uptime of the site. The URL stays http://www.bZone.be/. Once again, thanks to Jay for hosting the bZone website for me past two years!! |
| The Out1 and Out2 parameters on the Program-Setup page don't seem to work as they should. I'll fix this in the next release (0.91), which will be ready in a few days. |
| NEW! Here it is, a pre-release of version 1.00. This version works with all A-series samplers. It is a pre-release though: it will expire on Sept 01 and the advanced features are disabled. Registering (which will enable the advanced features) is not possible currently. I'm working on it. In the meantime: use it and let me know what you think. |
| While the betatesters are doing their work, I took some time to do some work on the website. Must say: PHP rules! |
| More bad news from the MIDI front: the MIDI interface of the Digi001 can't handle sysex very well and doesn't seem to work with bZone... |
| New! Version 0.56 is available for download. Just another prerelease to keep you going. In the meantime, I have released the hopefully last beta for version 1.00 so the first real release of bZone is coming closer. A little more patience... |
| The Yamaha UX256 USB MIDI interface does not work with bZone. It seems like USB MIDI interfaces in general might have problems with sysex. Have a look at the Requirements page for more info. |
| bZone 1.00, the one supporting A4000 and A5000 is in beta test. There's still some work to do, but the release of 1.00 is coming close now. |
| Upped the first version of the FAQ. If you have a problem or question, read it and see if the answer is there before asking me. |
